About Us

Ed Swinford

Previously a school teacher in my home state of Indiana, I moved to the Vail Valley in 1975 to be the assistant principal of Battle Mountain High School and then two years later became the principal of Minturn Middle School.  I began my Real Estate career in the fall of 1978, and a year after being hired by Vail Associates Real Estate (VARE) in January, 1980 I was appointed the Managing Broker of VARE in 1981.  By 1982 Beaver Creek Resort was open and I resumed my career in sales and have been based out of both Beaver Creek and Bachelor Gulch Village ever since.  I have been the Sales Manager of eight (8) condominium neighborhoods in Beaver Creek as well as the Sales Manager for the Ritz-Carlton® Bachelor Gulch Penthouses and Residential Suites. In January, 2016, I teamed with Brent Rimel, Broker Associate and enjoy the teamwork in marketing and sales.  I find great joy in assisting people find their ideal vacation retreat or home of their dreams in a place that is near and dear to my heart.  With a focus on my clients and their needs, I am lucky to have become dear friends many of them over the years.

Having raised my daughters in the Vail Valley, I am very fortunate to have made the decision to move west in 1975 to make Eagle County our home.  I am now blessed to be able to spend time with my three beautiful grandchildren and enjoy riding my horses in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado.

My professional career has taken me full circle in the world of real estate, technology, development, and construction.  After college I worked with my father (Lee Rimel) as his licensed assistant at Slifer Smith & Frampton’s Bridge Street office.  I was then recruited by East West Partner’s technology team to assist in the early development of what has become Slifer Smith & Frampton’s superior platform for technology and communication.  With a curiosity to understand how the homes were being developed and built, I joined R.A. Nelson (RAN), the biggest local general contractor in the Vail Valley. Over a decade with RAN, I gained experience in constructing multi-family projects and custom homes in Bachelor Gulch, Beaver Creek, Vail Mountain Star, Lake Creek, Denver, Aspen, Basalt and Snowmass.  I am excited to be back at Slifer and am blessed to be working in partnership with Ed. My greatest reward in building homes and selling real estate is providing a seamless experience to my clients as they find their perfect fit in the Vail Valley.

I am a Colorado native and a Vail Valley local since I was nine years old.  My wife Lindsey and I are incredibly lucky to be raising our son and daughter where we all get to enjoy the mountain lifestyle of skiing, mountain biking, rafting, and camping all in our backyard.  I am proficient in both Spanish and German.
